Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and EdCIL (India) Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote inclusive and technology-driven education through the installation of Smart Digital Classrooms in schools located around SAIL’s operational areas

NEW DELHI (29.05.2026): Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna company and the country’s largest public sector steel producer under the Ministry of Steel, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL (India) Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Education, on May 26, 2026 to promote inclusive education under SAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Under the agreement, ‘Smart Digital Classrooms’ will be established in schools situated around SAIL’s operational regions. The initiative is aimed at strengthening digital learning infrastructure and improving access to quality education for students.
The collaboration seeks to promote inclusive education and improve learning outcomes through technology-enabled teaching methods. The project is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal-4 (SDG-4), which focuses on ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The MoU was signed between officials of SAIL and EdCIL in the presence of K K Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL. Senior officials from both organisations were also present during the signing ceremony.
