ICC T20 World Cup: Rain Threat Looms Over India vs Pakistan Clash in Colombo

Posted on February 15, 2026February 15, 2026 By northsouthblock No Comments on ICC T20 World Cup: Rain Threat Looms Over India vs Pakistan Clash in Colombo

By NSB Sports Desk, New Delhi:
ICC T20 World Cup: The biggest match of the T20 World Cup 2026 is set to take place today in Colombo, where India and Pakistan will lock horns in a high-voltage encounter. Fans have thronged the city, with hotels reportedly fully booked—highlighting the massive craze surrounding this iconic rivalry. However, a major concern continues to trouble supporters: will rain disrupt the much-anticipated clash?

India vs Pakistan Weather Update: Will Rain Play Spoilsport?

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM local time at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The good news is that no rainfall was recorded until early afternoon. However, light showers are expected after 2:00 PM.

According to the weather department, the heaviest rainfall is likely between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM—just an hour before the toss. Around 5.1 mm of rain could fall during this period. There is also a strong possibility of rain during the first two hours of the match.

Heavy Showers Likely Before the Match

As per reports, weather conditions remained dry till early afternoon, but forecasts suggest deteriorating conditions in the evening. The Sri Lanka Meteorological Department has issued a warning about a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal, increasing the likelihood of rainfall during the match. The probability of rain is estimated to be as high as 70%.

What Could Happen During the Match?

Even if the rain stops around 7:00 PM, light showers may continue until 10:00 PM. In such a scenario:

The match could be delayed

Overs may be reduced

Or the game could end in a complete washout

There is some relief for fans, as the latest update suggests that the chances of rain around 8:00 PM have dropped significantly compared to earlier forecasts.

All eyes are now on Colombo’s weather, as millions wait to see whether the blockbuster India vs Pakistan clash will proceed as scheduled or fall victim to the rain.
