
After a six-hour-long discussion with protesting doctors, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced significant administrative changes. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal (IPS: 1994: WB) and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Kolkata) will be removed from their positions. Goyal is set to transfer charge to the new Police Commissioner atTuesday.
Additionally, Director of Medical Education Kaustav Naik and Director of Health Services Debashis Halder have been dismissed from their roles. Chief Minister Banerjee stated that all four demands of the protesting doctors have been met. She also announced the formation of a committee led by the Chief Secretary to address issues related to health sector infrastructure.
