Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line (Line-8) is set to emerge as a landmark achievement in strengthening transit connectivity across the National Capital Region. With the Phase-IV and recently approved Phase-V(A) expansions, it will become the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network, featuring the highest number of interchange and underground stations.

New Delhi : With the approval of the Phase-V(A) extension from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha (via Central Vista), and the implementation of the Indraprastha–Inderlok corridor under Phase-IV as an extension of Line-8, the Magenta Line will significantly expand its footprint.
Once completed, the Magenta Line will run from Botanical Garden to Inderlok, covering a total length of approximately 89 kilometres, making it the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network. The entire stretch will operate as a fully driverless metro corridor.
After completion, the Magenta Line will have a total of 21 interchange stations. Currently, four interchange stations—Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West and Hauz Khas—are operational on the existing stretch.
An additional 17 interchange stations will be added under Phase-IV and Phase-V(A), including Kalindi Kunj, Chirag Delhi, Terminal-1 IGI Airport, Peeragarhi, Pitampura (Madhuban Chowk), Haiderpur Badli Mor, Majlis Park, Azadpur, Pulbangash, Nabi Karim, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium, Central Secretariat, Indraprastha, Delhi Gate, New Delhi and Inderlok.
Among these, Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi and Inderlok will function as triple interchange stations, enabling seamless connectivity across multiple metro lines.
Upon project completion, the Botanical Garden–Inderlok corridor will comprise a total of 65 stations, of which 40 will be underground.
The extensive interchange network is expected to significantly reduce travel time and distance, ease congestion on key corridors and further strengthen safe, efficient and seamless public transport across the National Capital Region.
The Magenta Line is also known for two major engineering achievements. Haiderpur Badli Mor station on this corridor is the tallest elevated metro station in the Delhi Metro system, with the rail level at pier number 340 reaching approximately 28.362 metres. Meanwhile, Hauz Khas station, located on the same line, is the deepest underground station in the network at around 29 metres.
These milestones highlight the complex engineering excellence and technical sophistication of the Magenta Line corridor.
