The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of tenure for P. Hemalatha, a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Karnataka cadre, who is currently serving as the Development Commissioner of Cochin Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Her tenure has been extended for a further period of six months, i.e., from 24th April 2025 to 23rd October 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This extension allows continuity in leadership at the Cochin SEZ, a key hub for export-led industrial development in southern India.
