Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh administration is facing pressure to implement the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines regarding the transfer of IAS and IPS officers who have completed more than three years at the same posting.
However, implementing the directive is proving to be a challenging task for the state government. A large number of senior bureaucrats are believed to have strong administrative and political connections, making the reshuffle a sensitive exercise.
The proposed transfers have reportedly been delayed, even as pressure mounts on the administration to take action in accordance with the ECI’s instructions.
The reshuffle is significant from the perspective of election preparedness, as the Election Commission’s transfer guidelines are intended to ensure administrative neutrality and prevent officials from continuing in sensitive positions for extended periods.
