Varnali Deka, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya (AM) cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. As per the official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), her appointment is under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Varnali Deka brings with her a rich administrative experience from the Assam-Meghalaya region, where she has held several key positions in governance and development. Her appointment to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is expected to enhance the implementation and oversight of schemes focused on tribal welfare, education, healthcare, and socio-economic development.
