Rajesh Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India (GoI). Singh will officially assume the role of Secretary, Department of Defence, succeeding Aramane Giridhar, who will complete his tenure on October 31, 2024.
In addition to his new appointment, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved an extension of Singh’s service beyond the age of superannuation. He will continue to serve as Secretary, Department of Defence, until October 31, 2026.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, a 1989 batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, brings extensive experience to his new role.
