New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has appointed Rudra Gaurav Shresth (IFS: 1999) as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Türkiye. Shresth is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran and is expected to take up his new assignment in Ankara shortly.
A seasoned career diplomat, Shresth has held several important assignments in India’s diplomatic missions in France, Mauritius, Afghanistan, Singapore, and Bhutan. He also served as India’s High Commissioner to Mozambique from 2016 to 2019 and has worked in key positions at the Ministry of External Affairs, including policy planning and personnel management.
Before his posting in Tehran in 2023, Shresth served on deputation in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for three years. His appointment to Türkiye comes at a significant time as India seeks to further strengthen its diplomatic engagement with the strategically important nation that connects Europe and Asia.
The appointment reflects the government’s continued emphasis on experienced diplomatic leadership in advancing India’s foreign policy interests and bilateral relations with key international partners.
